Some of you may have seen Manu the Border Terrier in our Masterton branch. She was recently the unlucky victim of a cruciate ligament rupture.
Manu presented with a non-weight bearing hind leg and was quickly brought into the clinic for assessment.
A physical examination and x-rays revealed that Manu had ruptured her cruciate ligament. This is a supporting structure of the knee.
Manu received surgical repair by our Vet Jacques. She has made a great recovery.
This is a very common orthopaedic injury that we see in all shapes and sizes of dogs. It can be caused by a few factors including aging of the ligament, traumatic injury, conformation of the animal, obesity and breed.
Manu almost a new woman. Make sure to give her a pat if you are in the store.
