Nitrate Toxicity

Nitrates build up in the plant when there is a surplus of nitrogen in the soil. This then builds up in the plants and their leaves. Nitrate levels are usually higher at the base of the plant and levels can fluctuate overtime.

Barber’s Pole

Recently we have had warm conditions and showers of rain in the district, and following a feed pinch for many animals after the dry season. As a result we are seeing a number of sheep effected by haeumonchus contortus “barbers pole” including in adult ewes.

Manu presented with a non-weight bearing hind leg and was quickly brought into the clinic for assessment.
